Aaron Kostner and the Queen Discipline of Nordic Skiing

Nordic Combined fascinates through the combination of two very different disciplines

With Aaron Kostner, we are proud to support one of the top athletes in Nordic Combined as a testimonial for our clinic. The young South Tyrolean is one of the most promising talents in this extraordinary discipline, which, like few others, requires strength, endurance, technique, and exceptional mental focus.

What makes Nordic Combined so special?

Nordic Combined is considered one of the most demanding winter sports. It combines two seemingly opposite disciplines:

  • Ski jumping, which demands explosive power, perfect technique, and absolute concentration
  • Cross-country skiing, where endurance, strategy, and mental toughness are crucial

Athletes must bring together the precision of a ski jumper and the stamina of a cross-country skier – a combination that puts the body under tremendous strain.

Because of this versatility, the physical demands are very high. Knees, ankles, back, and muscles are stressed both during jumps and on the track. Targeted prevention, recovery, and medical support are therefore essential for long-term sporting success.

Did you know?

  • Nordic Combined originated in Norway and dates back to the 19th century, when it was practiced as a military multi-discipline. It is one of the oldest winter sports.
  • It remains the only Olympic sport that combines ski jumping and cross-country skiing in one competition, making it the true “queen discipline” of Nordic skiing.
  • Another special feature: ski jump results determine the starting positions for cross-country skiing – the better you jump, the earlier you start, making every race tactically exciting until the very end.

We wish Aaron Kostner a successful season and the best of luck in the upcoming races. We hope he gets the chance to compete at the Olympic Games Milano-Cortina and to perform at his very best. We are rooting for him to tackle every challenge with energy, focus, and passion!
