With Aaron Kostner, we are proud to support one of the top athletes in Nordic Combined as a testimonial for our clinic. The young South Tyrolean is one of the most promising talents in this extraordinary discipline, which, like few others, requires strength, endurance, technique, and exceptional mental focus.
What makes Nordic Combined so special?
Nordic Combined is considered one of the most demanding winter sports. It combines two seemingly opposite disciplines:
- Ski jumping, which demands explosive power, perfect technique, and absolute concentration
- Cross-country skiing, where endurance, strategy, and mental toughness are crucial
Athletes must bring together the precision of a ski jumper and the stamina of a cross-country skier – a combination that puts the body under tremendous strain.
Because of this versatility, the physical demands are very high. Knees, ankles, back, and muscles are stressed both during jumps and on the track. Targeted prevention, recovery, and medical support are therefore essential for long-term sporting success.
Did you know?
- Nordic Combined originated in Norway and dates back to the 19th century, when it was practiced as a military multi-discipline. It is one of the oldest winter sports.
- It remains the only Olympic sport that combines ski jumping and cross-country skiing in one competition, making it the true “queen discipline” of Nordic skiing.
- Another special feature: ski jump results determine the starting positions for cross-country skiing – the better you jump, the earlier you start, making every race tactically exciting until the very end.
We wish Aaron Kostner a successful season and the best of luck in the upcoming races. We hope he gets the chance to compete at the Olympic Games Milano-Cortina and to perform at his very best. We are rooting for him to tackle every challenge with energy, focus, and passion!
For many years, Dominik Paris has been closely connected to the Dolomiti Sportclinic – as a testimonial, a top-level athlete, and a friend who has placed his trust in us.
After a serious skiing accident in 2020, Dominik consciously chose treatment at the Dolomiti Sportclinic. The surgical treatment of his LCA was performed by our Medical Director, Dr. Arnold Gurndin, who medically supported Dominik together with our specialized team in Orthopedics and Traumatology. This decision and the trust he placed in us mean a great deal to us to this day.
That Dominik is once again competing here in Val Gardena these days is something very special for us. The annual races on the Saslong are a fixed highlight in the international Ski World Cup and a major event for our region.
We wish Dominik Paris every success for the races in Val Gardena, a safe run, and all the very best for the entire season.
Giorgia Felicetti, born on January 7th, 1998, in Campitello di Fassa, is an extraordinary Italian ski mountaineer and climber. With a mother who was a professional skier in the past and a father who works as a mountain guide, Giorgia grew up in a family imbued with a love for nature and the mountains.
From a young age, Giorgia developed a deep connection with nature and showed interest in various outdoor activities. She began her athletic career in figure skating but soon transitioned to skiing and decided to pursue a career in ski mountaineering and climbing. Giorgia attended the Ski College of Val di Fassa, where she honed her skills and increased her passion for the mountains.
Throughout her career, Giorgia has achieved numerous successes, including podium finishes in national and international competitions. Recently, Giorgia also became an aspiring mountain guide, demonstrating once again her dedication and passion for the mountains.
For several years now, the Dolomiti Sportclinic has been Giorgia’s go-to place. As she herself states: “After a shoulder injury where there seemed to be little solution, I was referred to the physiotherapy department in Bolzano, where Elisa practically restored my shoulder. Not only that, she has followed me to help improve my athletic weaknesses and prevent injuries of any kind. After a short time, I had already seen very good results!”
Giorgia Felicetti is not only a talented athlete but also an inspiring person who conveys to others her love for nature and the importance of outdoor activities. She is a symbol of the bond between humans and nature and a role model for young athletes who wish to find their own path in the world of ski mountaineering and climbing.
Dominik Paris leaves the Dolomiti Sportclinic in Ortisei on January 24th 2020 on crutches. The ski racer had a knee injury during training in Kitzbühel in Austria. During the fall on January 21st he tore his cruciate ligament. After the appropriate examinations and consideration of all possibilities, he decided to have the surgery done on the following day at the Dolomiti Sportclinic from the doctor Dr. Arnold Gurndin.
After the operation, Dominik Paris looks optimistically and confidently ahead. He is determinate to take one step at a time. In the beginning there will be time to rest, then he will gradually start with the rehab and the corresponding training. Now, for the first time in many years, he has time to spend with the family. He also thanks for the many messages he received from athletes and teammates. That gave him pleasure.
The surgeon Dr. Arnold Gurndin says the operation went very well. Dominik was lucky to have only had a cruciate ligament rupture. Cartilage and meniscus are intact and the joint works perfectly. So the chances are very good to get back to where he was.
